Job Description:The legal compliance auditor ensures Wegmans remains compliant with regulatory and legal requirements through the development and execution of compliance related audits/reviews. You will be responsible for driving strategy of compliance audit planning across the organization, ensuring all departments adhere to regulatory standards and internal policies including developing comprehensive audit plans, coordinating with various teams to implement and monitor compliance to mitigate risks and enhance organizational integrity.
What You'll Do
- Provide compliance support throughout the company, performing audit procedures to verify that controls are operating through testing and interviewing techniques
- Lead compliance reviews as directed by identifying, analyzing, evaluating, recording and communicating effectively
- Research new laws and regulations that require compliance and recommend changes to audit process as necessary
- Prepare detailed reports on audit findings, including developing recommendations to management on actions to be taken
- Stay up to date on relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices to ensure compliance efforts remain accurate, effective and proactive
- Assess, evaluate and promote compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations
- Perform audit procedures to verify that controls are operating through testing and interviewing techniques
- Gather, interpret and provide effective documentation of audit evidence
- Assist management in assessing compliance risks across functional areas
- Maintain work papers (traditional and electronic) that document the compliance review observations, conclusions and recommendations
- Identify control gaps and opportunities for improvement
- Assist with employee training on compliance related topics
- Complete special projects as requested
Requirements
- 3 or more years of compliance and audit experience (internal or external)
- 2 or more years of analytical experience at the Department Manager/Coordinator/Analyst level or external equivalent
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Systems Aptitude
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Experience leading projects of cross-functional nature
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and statistical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- CIA: Certified Internal Auditor - IHA: The Institute of Internal Auditors-North America
- Master's degree in related field
- CPA: Certified Public Accountant- AICPA: American Institute of CPAs
- CFE: Certified Fraud Examiner- ACFE: Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
