Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Legal HR Compliance Manager with a strong background in employment law or legal affairs to provide strategic support and manage a wide range of HR and legal compliance functions. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can foster a positive, compliant workplace culture while also serving as the organization's legal representative in employment-related matters.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive support to management across HR domains including Employee Relations, Compensation, Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, and Benefits Administration.
- Act as a liaison for HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce consistent HR policies in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employment-related legal matters and disputes. Represent the company in legal proceedings including labor board hearings, EEOC complaints, and court cases when required.
- Provide in-house legal guidance on HR issues such as terminations, discrimination claims, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
- Proactively monitor and interpret changes in labor laws, HR regulations, and legal precedents, implementing updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Conduct and oversee internal HR investigations with legal sensitivity and documentation.
- Oversee and coordinate internal and external HR audits, ensuring the integrity of HR processes and legal risk mitigation.
- Implement performance improvement strategies to align individual contributions with organizational goals.
- Administer employee health and benefits programs with effective communication and seamless operations.
- Collaborate with outside counsel when necessary and manage legal expenses related to employment litigation.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of proven experience in HR management.
- Background in law, employment law, or legal affairs is highly preferred. JD (Juris Doctor) or Paralegal certification is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel to 3 ventures in IL and potentially to other states as acquisitions occur.
- Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance standards, and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with discretion and legal acumen.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, especially in legal documentation and court proceedings.
