Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Legal HR Compliance Manager with a strong background in employment law or legal affairs to provide strategic support and manage a wide range of HR and legal compliance functions. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can foster a positive, compliant workplace culture while also serving as the organization's legal representative in employment-related matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to management across HR domains including Employee Relations, Compensation, Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, and Benefits Administration.
  • Act as a liaison for HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce consistent HR policies in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employment-related legal matters and disputes. Represent the company in legal proceedings including labor board hearings, EEOC complaints, and court cases when required.
  • Provide in-house legal guidance on HR issues such as terminations, discrimination claims, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations.
  • Proactively monitor and interpret changes in labor laws, HR regulations, and legal precedents, implementing updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Conduct and oversee internal HR investigations with legal sensitivity and documentation.
  • Oversee and coordinate internal and external HR audits, ensuring the integrity of HR processes and legal risk mitigation.
  • Implement performance improvement strategies to align individual contributions with organizational goals.
  • Administer employee health and benefits programs with effective communication and seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel when necessary and manage legal expenses related to employment litigation.

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of proven experience in HR management.
  • Background in law, employment law, or legal affairs is highly preferred. JD (Juris Doctor) or Paralegal certification is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to 3 ventures in IL and potentially to other states as acquisitions occur.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance standards, and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with discretion and legal acumen.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, especially in legal documentation and court proceedings.
