Job Summary:
WAC Group is seeking a Corporate Attorney. This role will be critical in managing and protecting the company’s intellectual property portfolio, while delivering strategic legal guidance across a wide range of corporate matters. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in patent law, along with a broad range of corporate legal experience, to safeguard the company’s legal interests, ensure compliance, and mitigate risk. The General Counsel collaborates closely with both internal teams and external partners in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with all stakeholders and external counsel to identify, protect and enforce intellectual property rights.
- Manage and oversee patent strategy, patent litigation and portfolio management.
- Provide legal support on general corporate matters to include general governance and corporate agreements.
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts including licensing agreements, NDAs, and vendor contracts.
- Advise on risk management and compliance matters related to WAC Group’s IP assets and business initiatives. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaborate closely with cross functional teams, including and not limited to the Executive Team, R&D, Engineering, Product Development, Finance, Sales, Operations, Marketing and Human Resources.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Current active bar membership in good standing with one or more U.S. jurisdictions.
- 7 years of relevant legal experience to include law firm and in-house practice.
- Proven knowledge and experience in patent law and patent litigation.
- Solid understanding of corporate transactional work and commercial agreements.
- Exceptional judgement and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical legal advice across all levels of the organization.
- Proven success in operating within a complex, high growth, fast paced corporate business environment.
The expected salary is $150,000 - $225,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors allowed by law.
