Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. The Associate General Counsel – Privacy will serve a key role on the Elevance Health Digital and Corporate Enterprise Legal Team as a subject matter expert in privacy law. This position will play a pivotal position in ensuring that our data privacy practices comply with all applicable laws and regulations, protecting the personal information of our patients, clients, and Associates.

How you will make an impact:
- Provide expert counsel on legal and regulatory issues related to privacy law, including HIPAA and other relevant laws.
- Collaborate proactively with internal stakeholders to integrate privacy considerations into business operations and product development.
- Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis with cross-functional stakeholders across Elevance Health’s business, compliance, legal, information security, and other subject matter experts, delivering business results while managing legal risks.
- Review and negotiate privacy-related clauses in contracts with vendors, providers, and other third parties, in partnership with contracting lawyers, information security and privacy colleagues.
- Provide strategic counsel on privacy implications and data use in emerging technologies, including AI solutions, balancing business enablement and risk mitigation.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients at all levels of the organization, providing strategic legal advice on privacy issues to support business objectives.
- Stay current on industry trends, legal developments, and emerging risks related to privacy law.
Minimum Requirements:
- Requires a JD, current license to practice law, and a minimum of 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

- Experience with the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence solutions is very helpful.
- Expertise in privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines relevant to the healthcare industry. Understanding of basic concepts of the healthcare sector preferred.
- Proven ability to provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in providing legal support and strategic, actionable advice to all levels, from senior executives to front-line employees preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to quickly build strong relationships with a diverse set of internal stakeholders preferred.
For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $187,616 to $307,008.
