The Intellectual Property & Technical Analyst is an integral part of Latham’s Legal Professional and Paralegal team and will be responsible for utilizing their expertise of the field and supporting the supervising attorney with cases related to intellectual property litigation, particularly patent litigation, while reviewing and analyzing patents in complex technical fields. This role will be located in any of our US Offices. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing technical issues related to intellectual property litigation, specifically, software, electronics, and semiconductor technologies
- Researching the scientific literature to identify, analyze, and evaluate prior art
- Distilling complex scientific concepts and explaining them in terms understandable to non-scientists
- Interacting with technical experts to analyze hardware, software technologies, and patents
- Drafting technical reports and analyses in support of litigation
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Demonstrate excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving and decision-making)
- Possess well-developed, professional interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
- Display the ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus
And have:
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Patent bar qualification, preferably
- A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of post-graduate IP-related experience (such as working as a patent agent, or an industry position with some involvement in or responsibility for IP strategy), preferably
