Job Description
- Represent clients in cases involving affordable housing, rent regulation, and human rights.
- Appear before agencies such as the NYS Division of Human Rights, NYC Commission on Human Rights, DHCR, and in state Supreme Court.
- Handle legal matters related to rent overcharge disputes, succession claims, harassment, and discrimination allegations.
- Navigate deregulation issues, including substantial rehabilitation.
- Advise clients on compliance under regulatory agreements with agencies like DHCR, HFA, and HUD.
- Conduct due diligence for property acquisitions.
- Manage affordable housing cases, including knowledge of voucher programs and other housing initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in litigation or administrative law, with a strong focus on real estate.
- Expertise in affordable housing, rent regulation, and human rights cases.
- Proven ability to handle cases independently and provide sound legal advice on compliance and regulatory matters.
- Experience conducting due diligence during property transactions.
- Admission to the New York State Bar.
- Portable business is a plus but not required.
