Job Description

 The Assistant Corporate Counsel assists the Corporate Counsel and the Legal and Compliance Departments with a wide variety of function and oversight, including support with global trademarks and oppositions, counterfeit and infringement actions, investigations and raids, litigation management and support, coordination with outside legal counsel, contract review, document editing and copy, and other legal matters. 
 
Assistant Corporate Counsel is responsible for assistance and oversight as required by Corporate Counsel for all Legal and Compliance functions. 
 
Responsibilities 
  • Perform global trademark clearance: review preliminary searches, analyze search reports and advise availability opinions. 
  • Oversee global trademark portfolio; strategize on trademark filings, respond to office actions, manage renewals, collaboration with foreign counsel.  
  • Manage complex global trademark disputes including reviewing watch notices, managing cease and desist letters, reviewing opposition documents, negotiating settlements, drafting/reviewing settlement and coexistence agreements. 
  • Develop and deliver training and educational materials regarding company procedures to ensure and enhance proper trademark use. 
  • Manage domain name disputes and domain name portfolios in coordination with digital department. 
  • Manage and coordinate appropriate permissions on Amazon Brand Registry with partners. 
  • Compile and provide evidentiary and other necessary documentation as requested for global litigations, trademark matters, enforcements, oppositions and appeals. 
  • Research, compile information and reports to assist in creating legal presentations for Board meetings, trainings, licensees and other purposes. 
  • Assist with global customs registrations, training materials, domains, cancellation and oppositions, enforcements, and evidentiary requests. 
  • Assist Compliance as needed, provide research support and coordination. 
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Licensing, Executive, Design and Marketing etc.) to provide information and collect evidence for various matters. 
  • Coordinate with Design/Advertising/Marketing departments to ensure compliance with legal requirements under contracts and for promoting global brand consistency. 
  • Contract review and updating as needed. 
  • Support multiple stakeholders both internally and externally. 
  • Maximum discretion is required at all times. 
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications 
  • J.D. and a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience with trademark law, including extensive experience with global trademark searches, trademark enforcement, managing trademark portfolios. 
  • Licensed to practice in FL. 
  • Notary required. 
  • Must have executive presence and ability to form strong relationships with business leaders. 
  • A combination of top-tier law firm and in-house experience is preferred. 
  • Team player with the ability to manage and participate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Experience managing and developing others a must. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe and MyCase, social media and other research tools. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage change, and be flexible. 
  • Must be creative and willing to share ideas for the growth of the team 
  • Open to receiving and giving feedback for personal and team development
