Description

This position presents a unique opportunity to help develop the Litigation Department for the premier firm in the growing cannabis, psychedelics, and emerging therapies industries. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal issues in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a team of dedicated legal professionals across the country. 


The ideal Litigation Associate candidate will have at least 6 years of civil litigation experience, preferably representing businesses and other corporate entities in state and federal courts, arbitration, and administrative appeals. Additionally, experience with commercial litigation, defense-side product liability litigation, or California bar membership is a plus. 

Requirements

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of cannabis law litigation matters, including but not limited to contractual, consumer protection, product liability, and intellectual property litigation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare for and attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients on potential litigation risks and opportunities.
  • Assist with business development initiatives, including client outreach, marketing efforts, and networking events.
  • Stay informed about developments in cannabis, hemp, and psychedelics law, and proactively identify opportunities for professional growth and knowledge sharing within the firm.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the CO state bar and in good standing with the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of three years of litigation experience.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral advocacy and courtroom presentation abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and client service excellence.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience with business development activities and a demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain client relationships is a plus.
  • Location: Colorado, California, Oregon
