The Board's mission is to protect and support the public through regulation and education, while protecting the integrity of the cosmetology and barbering industries. The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board is responsible for regulating the Cosmetology and Barbering industries in the State of Ohio.
The Cosmetology and Barber Board headquarters are located at 5025 Bradenton Avenue, Suite 130, Dublin, Ohio 43017.
DutiesThe Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board is seeking an experienced attorney to provide legal counsel to the Board. This position will perform the following duties:
- Provide legal counsel & advice to the Board on legal matters & policy development & implementation relating to legal functions.
- Supervise support staff, assign workload, review work product & oversee development of & enforce policy affecting legal programs (e.g., Administrative procedure required under ORC 119, drafting Notices of Opportunity for Hearing, Orders, requests for legal opinions), proceedings &/or agency operations.
- Analyze, monitor, & draft legislation.
- Assist in responding to inquiries from public & government officials (e.g., public records requests).
- Organize & direct findings related to inspections of licensed facilities & individual licensees.
- Represent board at meetings & speak for board on policy matters.
- Manage the boards Administrative Rule Review (e.g., drafting & electronic filing of commission rules, scheduling public hearings, ensuring proper notice to public for participation in rule review process & act as liaison between commission & other agencies, including Office of Common-Sense Initiative, & parties involved in this process).
- $43.09/hour
Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 18 mos. exp. as licensed attorney AND 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.
