The Midwest litigation team of Hawkins Parnell & Young is seeking a tech savvy, highly motivated litigation paralegal with mass tort and/or asbestos litigation experience to join and support a successful product liability defense team based in our Chicago office. The paralegal will work with attorneys in Chicago and St. Louis.
Job Responsibilities Include
- Assist with trials including preparing trial documents and exhibits
- Assist with preparation for depositions, including investigating worksites and witnesses
- Assist with preparation for hearings
- Assist with analysis of litigation trends and projections, must be skilled with excel and have a comfort level with data management systems
- Assist with preparation of discovery responses, including document production
- Prepare and organize a variety of pleadings, motions, documents, forms, charts, letters, presentations, and reports
- Summarize depositions, medical, military, union, and employment records
- Facilitate expert retention, provide materials to experts, and coordinate specifics for expert reports and depositions
- Work closely with secretarial team to proactively monitor and calendar docket activity, case events, and deadlines
- Available to travel to meet with clients, review documents, assist in litigation management and trial
- Assist with National Client Team case and docket management that includes quality control of databases, document retention, control and production
Necessary Skill Set Includes
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with managing databases and document management systems
- Proficiency in e-discovery and document review software
- Attention to detail
