Full-time Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense and Civil Litigation Position Overview

We are looking for a full-time Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in handling a diverse caseload, working closely with partners and clients, and contributing to the firm's continued success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle all aspects of litigation from case inception through trial and appeal
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations
  • Negotiate settlements and plea agreements
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance adjusters
  • Manage and prioritize multiple cases and deadlines
  • Develop case strategies and litigation plans
  • Conduct witness interviews and prepare witnesses for testimony
  • Analyze and evaluate insurance policies and coverage issues
  • Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends
  • Participate in business development activities and client relationship management
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and support staff
  • Contribute to the firm's knowledge management and best practices initiatives
Qualifications Required:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar
  • 2-5 years of experience in insurance defense and civil litigation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Preferred:
  • Experience in multiple areas of insurance defense (e.g., personal injury, property damage, professional liability)
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures
  • Experience with e-discovery platforms and case management software
  • Strong client service orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and high-volume caseloads
