Your Role as COO
The Chief Operations Officer will serve as the integrator of our firm, translating strategic vision into day-to-day execution and ensuring all departments operate with precision, efficiency, and alignment. You will oversee all internal functions while leading and mentoring a team of department heads across legal non attorney support staff and non-legal operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership
Direct all day-to-day functions of the firm, ensuring smooth, effective, and profitable operations across departments including HR, Intake, Case Management, Litigation Support, and Front Office. - Strategic Execution
Implement business strategies developed in partnership with the founders; ensure organizational goals are met with speed, consistency, and excellence. - Performance Optimization
Identify areas for operational improvement, introduce best-in-class tools and systems, and scale workflows that enhance productivity while reducing friction and cost. - Financial Stewardship
Collaborate with the CFO to maintain financial discipline and ensure budgets are met without compromising performance or client outcomes. - People Development
Build, develop, and retain high-performing leaders; create accountability systems that foster ownership, clarity, and career growth. - Compliance & Risk Oversight
Maintain a strong pulse on compliance and risk management in a highly regulated legal environment. - Founder Partnership
Serve as the primary operational liaison to the firm's founders, providing clear updates, thoughtful recommendations, and proactive solutions.
Who You Are
- A seasoned operator with 10+ years in executive leadership, preferably in a professional services firm with $25M – 50M+ in annual revenue.
- A systems thinker with strong business acumen, who can scale operations without losing cultural cohesion.
- An exceptional communicator and leader who builds trust and drives alignment across diverse teams.
- A data-informed decision-maker with experience in KPI tracking, forecasting, and organizational diagnostics.
- A culture carrier who believes operational excellence and an exceptional employee experience can—and should—coexist.
