Job Purpose: 

Sceye is seeking a dedicated and skilled Associate Counsel to support the legal department in addressing a wide range of corporate legal matters. This role will work closely with the General Counsel to ensure that Sceye operates in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations while supporting business objectives. The Associate Counsel will handle matters related to corporate governance, contract management, intellectual property, employment law, regulatory compliance, and provide general legal advice across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a strong legal foundation with 2-5 years of experience, ideally with some exposure to technology, aerospace, or government contracting industries. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to grow their career while making a meaningful impact at an innovative aerospace company.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Provide legal support across the organization on a wide range of matters, including contracts, corporate governance, employment issues, and regulatory compliance
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with export control laws (EAR/BIS), government contracting regulations, and industry-specific standards
  • Support the development and implementation of corporate policies related to ethics, business conduct, and risk management
  • Review, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including NDAs, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements
  • Collaborate with the General Counsel to manage intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets
  • Help maintain compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) for government contracts
  • Support compliance with Technology Control Plans (TCPs) and safeguards for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
  • Assist with corporate governance matters, including board meetings, corporate resolutions, and maintaining entity records
  • Provide guidance on employment law matters in conjunction with the HR department
  • Participate in the development and delivery of legal training programs for employees
  • Monitor and advise on relevant regulatory developments that may impact the company
  • Perform legal research on various issues as they arise
  • Support the General Counsel in managing outside counsel relationships
  • Willingness to travel with the operations team to Roswell for test flights and assist with safety and legal response
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • JD from an accredited law school with active bar membership in good standing (New Mexico bar or barred in another state with ability to waive into the New Mexico bar required)
  • Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., high class ranking, law review, moot court, academic honors)
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to New Mexico
  • 2-5 years of legal experience, preferably in a corporate or technology setting
  • Strong foundation in contract law and corporate governance
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about export compliance (EAR/BIS) and government contracting regulations
  • Knowledge of intellectual property law and strategies for protecting innovation
  • Familiarity with or interest in aerospace, telecommunications, or technology sectors
  • Understanding of corporate compliance areas such as anti-bribery/anti-corruption (FCPA), corporate ethics, and privacy regulations
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills
  • Strong communication abilities and talent for explaining complex legal concepts to non-lawyers
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
  • Adaptable problem-solver with a practical, business-oriented approach
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with FAA, DoD, BIS, or FCC regulatory frameworks is a plus.
