Paralegal and Compliance Administrator

JOB PURPOSE

The Paralegal and Compliance Administrator supports the Assistant General Counsel's ("AGC") oversight of legal compliance of corporate structure and governance, HIPAA, contracts, and tax matters. They act as the frontline interface with various staff on issues involving contracts, and work under AGC oversight to provide solutions and guidance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
2. Minimum of seven years of paralegal experience with complex corporate and tax structures.
3. Minimum of seven years of experience with all activities associated with contract administration.
4. In-depth knowledge of corporate, tax, and nonprofit law, and complex corporate structures.
5. Demonstrated high-level analytical skills.
6. High proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
7. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects to completion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree in business, management, or other related degree.
2. Minimum of ten years of paralegal experience.
3. Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.
4. Experience working in a nonprofit environment.
5. Experience working with a volunteer Board of Directors.
6. Have an in-depth understanding of:
• The difference between for profit and not-for-profit entities.
• The difference between independent charitable entities and support corporations.
• The risk associated with inappropriate and erroneous disclosures regarding charitable tax returns.
• The financial statements for each corporate entity so that the interface in the tax returns between disclosures and financial information is correct.
• HIPAA requirements and the specific responsibilities of the Foundation.
• Which donations and donors are entitled to a charitable deduction.
• The content of all tax letters to donors
