 Job Description: 

The Corporate Counsel - Real Estate will become a foundational” with “support ABC’s continued growth as a member of ABC’s growing Real Estate and Commercial Contracting legal team.  This position will report directly to ABC’s Senior Corporate Counsel - Real Estate and Commercial Contracting and together with the rest of ABC’s legal team they will support the ABC New Centers, Facilities and Finance teams in their efforts to accomplish ABC’s mission. 


This role will be primarily responsible for reviewing and negotiating all leases and related agreements for all new and existing ABC centers. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of real estate transactions or litigation experience.  


This position may be remote but ABC has a preference for candidates based in Austin, TX who are willing to work from ABC headquarters 1-3 days per week.  


 What You’ll Be Doing: 
  • Provide day-to-day legal support to ABC’s New Centers, Facilities, and Finance teams in support of ABC’s growing real estate portfolio.
 
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal clients as well as landlords and brokers to help manage ABC’s real estate portfolio which will primarily consist of lease negotiation but will also include some real estate acquisitions and divestitures;
 
  • Develop and apply ABC’s real estate negotiation playbook to review, draft, and negotiate LOIs, leases, amendments, assignments, estoppels, NDAs, and other real estate-related documents;
 
  • Draft and prepare letters to landlords regarding lease obligations, reimbursements, outstanding tenant allowance, and landlord performance; 
 
  • Help to resolve landlord/tenant disputes;
 
  • Manage real estate litigation matters including management of outside counsel;
 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of best practices and procedures;
 
  • Management of paralegals as may be directed by ABC legal leadership;
 
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed or required;
 
  • General administrative support not directly related to real estate as assigned; and
 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


What You’ll Bring With You:
  •  Juris doctor from an ABA accredited law school.
 
  • A license to practice law in at least one state with Arizona, Colorado, or Texas preferred.
 
  • 3-7 years related law firm or in-house experience.  For in-house experience, experience in a  retail or healthcare setting for an organization with a large, multi-jurisdictional real estate portfolio is preferred. 
 
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Google Mail and other related software required.
 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write clear, concise and persuasive.
 
  • Professionalism and courtesy in all interactions in person and by telephone.
 
  • Time management skills and ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities with shifting time frames, and meet tight deadlines; willing to learn with a high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow-through.
 
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
 
  • Ability to initiate efforts and work independently within scope of responsibilities and with minimal supervision.
 
  • Some travel required (up to 15%).

Base Salary: $95,000-$150,000 based on experience
