Zeta is looking for a talented law or computer science student to join our legal department as an IP Legal Intern for the Summer of 2026 in our San Francisco office. As an IP Legal Intern, you will be immersed in various aspects of Zeta’s intellectual property program, including invention harvesting, patent application drafting, prosecution of pending patent applications, and IP portfolio management. You will also be given opportunities to help accelerate the development and adoption of AI tools for IP law.
Summer 2026 Internship Information
- Real-world, hands-on experience in the marketing technology industry (85% of work in internship role and 15% of internship with professional development/webinars/activities)
- Hybrid in our San Francisco office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office)
- June 16nd through August 28th
- $23.00/hour
- Full-time - 40 hours per week
- Weekly lunches and social gatherings in office
- Speaker Series with subject matter experts across Zeta Global
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform legal research on emerging IP and AI policy issues
- Identify opportunities to develop new or adopt existing AI tools to streamline IP workflows
- Review existing IP portfolio and identify potential red flags
- Assist with invention harvesting to identify new invention ideas
- Prepare drafts of claim amendments and arguments for USPTO office actions
- Prepare drafts of new patent applications
- Help negotiate with USPTO patent examiners to streamline prosecution of pending applications
- Prepare drafts of descriptions of goods and services for new trademark applications
Qualifications
- Prior experience in computer science, software development, machine learning, or AI
- Demonstrate a strong interest in IP law, AI policy, or the intersection of law and technology
- Demonstrate an interest in digital marketing, consumer data, AI, or internet advertising
- Ability to research legal and business issues and learn new concepts quickly
- Strong desire to learn more about patent drafting and ideally some experience writing patent applications
- Completion of some IP-related coursework preferred
