Job Description

Our legal team ensures that VillageMD complies with the highest standards of business, law, and ethics while providing information and guidance to management in support of the organization’s growth.

As an Associate General Counsel, Regulatory, you’ll work closely with our Vice President – Lead Regulatory Counsel and other legal team members to drive regulatory initiatives, provide strategic legal guidance, and build a robust compliance infrastructure. We’re looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented attorney with a passion for health law, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes with confidence and practicality. What are some examples of work you’ll be managing at VillageMD?

  • Advise business leaders on healthcare laws and regulations, including Stark, AKS, FCA, CMP, No Surprises Act, Telehealth, HIPAA, state privacy, provider/practice onboarding and departure, scope of practice, licensure, billing and coding, and anti-markup
  • Serve as a practical and strategic legal advisor to businesses, physician, and functional leaders to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Leading with a people-first approach, fostering a culture of open communication, collaboration, and accessibility. Providing legal guidance on payor contracting (including managed care and fee-for-service arrangements) and CMS value-based programs, such as Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs).
  • Draft and review clinical education affiliation agreements and provide guidance related to student clinical education
  • Provide support and guidance on arrangements with healthcare providers that implicate healthcare fraud and abuse regulations
  • Provide research, draft materials and answer questions related to day-to-day and strategic regulatory and compliance matters
  • Provide legal perspective on policies and procedures across various functions of the organization
  • Manage review of professional clinical/administrative services agreements and other agreements and matters with regulatory components (e.g., clinical research, marketing)
  • Provide legal support on applications and maintenance of healthcare facility and services filing with departments of health and other agencies
  • Support other legal projects and initiatives including management of agency investigations and litigation involving regulatory matters
  • Support efforts for value creation by legal department

The following experience is relevant to us:

  • 7+ years of experience practicing health law, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm setting with a focus on regulatory compliance.
  • Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where you reside (or eligible for in-house counsel registration).
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with employees at all levels and key stakeholders

This is an exempt position. The base compensation range for this role is $143,500 - $179,500.  At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc.  The selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan.
