We are seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant with paralegal experience to work on a temporary basis while one of our employees is on leave. This position is estimated to be five months, but may turn into a full time position.
This position supports attorneys by handling documentation, case management, scheduling management, and client communications, plus additional legal administrative work.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Case Management
Organize and maintain case files (physical and electronic).
Manage case calendars, deadlines, and court dates.
Track statutes of limitations and other important timelines.
Legal Research & Documentation
Conduct legal research to support cases, motions, and briefs.
Gather and analyze statutes, case law, regulations, and legal articles.
Draft, proofread, and prepare legal documents (pleadings, motions, contracts, agreements, etc.).
Prepare correspondence on behalf of attorneys.
Client Interaction
Serve as a point of contact between attorneys and clients.
Schedule and coordinate client meetings, interviews, and depositions.
Gather and summarize client information, statements, or records.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all client communications.
Court & Filing Duties
File legal documents with state and federal courts (electronically and in person).
Prepare discovery requests and responses.
Coordinate service of process and subpoenas.
Administrative Support
Manage attorney calendars, travel, and scheduling.
Handle billing, timekeeping, and expense reporting.
Answer phones, draft routine correspondence, and maintain office organization.
Perform other legal administrative assistant duties, as needed.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
Bachelor Degree is preferred
Prior experience working as a paralegal in a law firm
Proficient in business phone systems and office software
Must be organized and have the ability to manage files and maintain an orderly workspace
Accurate in data entry and document handling
Skilled in prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
Professional communication skills (phones, written)
Extreme organizational abilities, detail-oriented, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities and learn new tasks/procedures quickly
A solid work ethic
Team player and wonderful attitude
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Strong typing skills
Time management abilities and a high level of self-direction
Benefits and Compensation:
Compensation $28.00 - $30.00 to start depending on experience
