Legal Support Manager
Position Type: Full-time, Salaried Exempt; Benefits Eligible  
Reports to: Managing Attorney  
Location: On-site – Metairie, LA

Summary/Objective: We are seeking an experienced Legal Support Advisor to oversee and optimize the performance of our legal support team. This role is responsible for managing paralegals, legal assistants, and case managers while ensuring seamless legal operations, compliance, and outstanding client service.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Case Review & Quality Assurance
    • Conduct quarterly case reviews with each case manager (approx. two per week).
    • Document findings and trends to inform training and performance feedback.
    • Collaborate with attorneys, HR, and leadership on performance issues, including PIPs or discipline as needed.
  • Training & Development
    • Deliver hands-on onboarding and casework training for new legal support staff.
    • Maintain consistency in procedures by aligning training with best practices.
    • Serve as a subject matter contributor to new training programs and initiatives developed by the internal trainer.
  • Paralegal Support
    • Provide full paralegal support to one designated attorney with a smaller caseload.
    • Assist with drafting, filing, case management, and legal research.
    • Ensure alignment with case handling procedures used by the broader team.
  • Operational Collaboration
    • Consult with managing attorneys and leadership to promote quality, compliance, and workflow improvements.
    • Identify trends or recurring challenges and recommend process improvements.
Education, Experience, & Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma Required, Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or legal department
  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience in a legal setting
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in legal software, case management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
Work Environment & Demands:
  • This position typically follows a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, with standard hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • The position requires working in an office environment, with some local travel required.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (e.g., office materials or supplies).
  • May involve standing or walking for extended periods while some tasks may require bending, stooping, or reaching.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and various digital devices. May include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Capacity to perform repetitive tasks; read, analyze, and interpret data; maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time.
