Job Description

Speaks Law Firm is seeking a part-time Investigator to support our legal team in uncovering key information that strengthens our clients' cases. This position is ideal for retired law enforcement officers or military investigators with a passion for detail, integrity, and truth. Interested candidates should be ready to support meaningful legal work that protects and advocates for injured people across North Carolina. 

Job Duties:
  • Insurance Investigations: Locate additional insurance policies that may provide coverage across a range of matters, including personal injury, workers’ compensation, general liability, and property/casualty claims.
  • Field Investigations: Visit accident scenes, locate and interview witnesses, contact parties to the incident, and liaise with ADAs and law enforcement to gather evidence.
  • Asset Discovery: Conduct asset checks on defendants using investigative databases.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and file clear, comprehensive reports that integrate data from interviews, photographs, videos, and surveillance.
  • Testimony: Provide legal testimony as needed based on findings.
  • Remote Work with Field Assignments: While primarily remote, investigators may occasionally be required to visit the Charlotte office or conduct in-person investigations. Some after-hours or weekend work may be necessary, though most tasks occur during business hours (Mon-Fri 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM).
Qualifications:
  • Must have clean motor vehicle record and valid driver's license
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Experience: 5–7 years in law enforcement or military investigations (preferred)
  • Mobility: Ability to travel for investigations—up to 75% travel required
  • Tech Savvy: Ability to handle investigative technology, including audio/video review, surveillance tools, and digital reporting systems
  • Residency: Must reside within driving distance of Charlotte, NC
  • Part-time Flexible Schedule: Project-based, Willingness to work varied hours and days based on case needs
Compensation:
The is a part-time hourly position starting at $25 an hour depending on experience.
