Hours: 7:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. Monday – Friday (variable shift/hours may apply)

Duties/Responsibilities

In addition to serving as legal counsel to statutory clients, the Chief of the Civil Division is an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the Civil Division of the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office.  The Chief supervises a staff of two attorneys and a legal secretary.  The Chief assigns clients to each respective attorney and ensures that client requests are handled in a timely fashion.  The Chief provides guidance to junior attorneys regarding legal matters and in managing client relationships.  The Chief is responsible for mentoring junior attorneys and setting the standard for professional conduct and competent legal service.  

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.  Applicants must have a minimum of five years’ experience in civil practice.  Preferred applicants will have at least three years of experience in the civil representation of county government and/or township government clients in the State of Ohio.  This position is full time; no private practice is allowed.

Minimum Education:  Juris Doctor

-Must possess excellent research and writing skills and requisite understanding of relevant law and regulations; and,

-Must maintain client confidentiality
-Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro

Supplemental Information

Pay and Benefits:  
Salary range is from $90,000.00 to $110,000.00, depending upon experience.  Attorneys are unclassified employees who serve at the pleasure of the Prosecuting Attorney.  Position includes full benefits, including health insurance, vacation, sick leave, Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility, wellness incentives, an Employee Assistant Plan, Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, and an optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. Continuing legal education credits are also available.
