VP, Business and Legal Affairs – Rights & Content Acquisition

The Position:
We are seeking a VP, Business and Legal Affairs – Rights & Content Acquisition to join the FanDuel Sports Network Legal Team. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will primarily focus on supporting Rights and Content Acquisition, partnering with Production, Ad Sales, Partnerships and Distribution.

This is a hybrid position located in NYC or Southport, CT.

The Game Plan:
(What you will do)

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of program/content licenses, and other commercial agreements, including agreements with leagues, sports teams and other sports content suppliers, sponsorship agreements, programming development agreements, syndication agreements, production agreements.
   
• Counsel internal business teams on contractual interpretation, advertising and promotional rights, production obligations, intellectual property usage, clearance issues and dispute resolution associated with sports and programming rights, present analyses directly to executives and management.
   
• Consult with and advise TV and Digital distribution teams on rights and clearances associated with distribution matters.
   
• Navigate league-specific requirements, approval processes, and governance structures, ensure compliance with league media policies and broadcast standards.
   
• Structure agreements for social media content, highlights, and clip usage; address emerging technology rights.
• Support general corporate matters as requested; manage outside counsel when appropriate.

The Stats:
(What to bring)

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Active law license required.
• 7+ years’ experience
• Experience at a national law firm and in-house preferred
• Corporate/transactional background

• Prior legal content acquisition experience

The Company is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual base compensation range for this role is $245K – 265K. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
