REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT PARALEGAL

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To join the company’s Legal Development department as a Real Estate Development Paralegal, where you will work alongside attorneys and paralegals in support of the company’s efforts to transform, transition and expand retail properties into destinations that will include commercial office space, hotels, entertainment, lifestyle and fitness centers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Including, but not limited to:

Review and Analysis of Legal Documents

  • Review and analyze legal documents including, but not limited to, leases, reciprocal easement agreements, operating agreements, restrictive covenants agreements, partnership agreements, loan documents, and other similar contracts to understand rights and restrictions which may impact land use and development. 
  • Prepare accurate results matrices and summary memos in consultation with an attorney covering various topics as requested by internal parties within the company.

Document Drafting and Preparation

  • Timely prepare drafts of real estate documents, including but not limited to, purchase and sale agreements, leases, amendments, covenants agreements, easements, estoppel certificates, and transactional documents, as well as compile supplemental exhibits to the aforementioned documents in close consultation with an attorney.
  • Facilitate revisions and oversee quality control measures on subsequent drafts of documents.

Title and Survey

  • Review title encumbrances and land survey items. 
  • Assist in the resolution of title and survey objections as they arise during due diligence investigations.
  • Work with title companies to complete various real estate transactions.

File Management and Administrative Matters

  • Maintain the computerized file database (“TyMetrix”) and hard copy files of assigned projects, including opening, editing and closing matters in a timely manner. 
  • Establish and maintain organized files of assigned projects within SharePoint and other database systems to properly document transactions.
  • Support the Legal Development team with additional tasks and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Paralegal Certificate, Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ applicable legal experience preferred, with a focus on commercial real estate. 
  • Analytical skills and the ability to accurately articulate research results of real estate documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with ability to manage multiple projects, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact at a professional level.
  • Self-motivated, with ability to take initiative and to work independently.
