Position Description

Job Title: Senior Paralegal

Reports To: VP Risk Management, Legal, and Real Estate

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Shared Services Office, Irving, TX

Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive and resourceful Senior Paralegal to support our Risk Management and Legal Team. The Senior Paralegal needs to be an experienced professional with a strong background in legal compliance. This individual excels at drafting and reviewing legal documents, conducting thorough legal research, and ensuring the firm's and clients' adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies. This role is a proactive problem-solver with meticulous attention to detail and a proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. They possess excellent communication and organizational skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with corporate governance, maintaining corporate records, supporting capital markets and M&A transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and related matters
  • Prepare affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence, and organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing system.
  • Prepare legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, wills, contracts, and real estate closing statements.
  • Communicates with clients and other business partners to discuss details of various matters.
  • Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents.
  • Responsible for all entities’ compliance with registration and authority requirements in all states.
  • Maintains legal compliance with all states including the timely filing of annual reports, renewals, and other necessary documents.
  • Owns the interface with Meriton’s registered agent, working with the agent on subpoenas and other filings.
  • Support day-to-day administrative matters including word processing, drafting correspondence/reports, and file maintenance.
  • Completes other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • 7+ years of paralegal experience is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, political science, or related fields is required
  • Paralegal certificate is required
  • Strong knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and democratic political process
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Salary ranges listed are dependent upon a candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the specific role and location.
