Genentech, a member of the Roche group, seeks an experienced Legal Technology Solutions Lead to join our Legal Operations team. The successful candidate will be pivotal in driving innovation within the legal department by identifying areas where technology can be implemented to streamline workflows and improve resource usage. This role involves leading the full lifecycle of innovation and automation projects, including identifying needs, gathering requirements, designing and deploying tools, managing implementation, and driving post-deployment adoption. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in workflow automation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, and will be expected to understand legal workflows to recommend solutions that enable legal personnel to work as efficiently as possible.
This role is located onsite at our South San Francisco campus, and a fully-remote working arrangement is not available. Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build and implement fit-for-purpose technology solutions (including leveraging machine learning models) to automate and enhance legal processes and enhance the Legal digital and technology landscape.
Integrate automation or Gen AI solutions with existing legal software and platforms to create seamless workflows.
Collaborate with legal professionals to identify pain points and business needs where technology can improve efficiency, accuracy and outcomes.
Gather, review, and analyze business requirements for workflow automation projects by interviewing stakeholders and creating robust documentation for business and technical requirements.
Evaluate and assess new products and technology, including participating in and contributing to pilots and proof of concept programs.
Conduct data analysis to extract insights and support decision-making.
Work independently and cross-functionally on a broad range of projects, including but not limited to, developing custom-built solutions, data visualization dashboards, collaboration dashboards, and workflow automation.
Stay up-to-date with advancements in Digital & Technology, and AI to continually improve our tools and methodologies.
Provide training and support to legal team members on using AI tools.
Provide comprehensive training and support to legal team members to promote adoption and ensure a deep understanding of legal technologies and the use of AI tools
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record that includes creative problem-solving, workflow analysis, and developing best practices. The selected candidate should also possess:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in system architecture design and implementation.
Proven experience in developing and deploying AI and machine learning solutions.
Strong understanding of legal processes and workflows, ideally with experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java.
Experience with machine learning frameworks and tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
Proficient with Microsoft and Google, adept at creating frameworks and designing complex relational databases.
Working knowledge of Scrum and/or Kanban.
Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills as well as exceptional attention to detail required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, concurrent projects, and competing priorities while maintaining calmness and tactfulness in a dynamic and deadline-driven service organization.
Strong analytical, documentation, and research skills.
Team player able to adapt to a changing environment and multitask assignments, and able to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation.
Superior written and verbal communication skills coupled with the demonstrated ability to explain complex technological/AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
UI/UX experience is a plus.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $112,700 to $209,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
