Job Description:
The Senior Legal Entity Controller will be responsible for:
The Holding Companies & Other Legal Entity Controller team is part of GLEC, within the GFC organization. This role will be responsible for a variety of controllership functions, primarily focused on ensuring the accuracy of the books and records, management reporting, planning and forecasting for Other Segment. Other functions include providing accounting support, internal reporting, as well as regulatory reporting submissions with commentaries. The role will support and collaborate with key stakeholders viz Corporate Planning and Control, Global HR, Global Tax, Corporate Controller, Global Regulatory Reporting and other Enterprise control functions. Job expectations include planning and preparing for each monthly close cycle and timely executing all required tasks while maintaining a strong control environment. Proactive approach, analytical skills and a collaborative mindset will be key to the success in this role.
- The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Group is responsible for the overall financial management of our company. This includes accounting, financial and regulatory reporting, balance sheet management, financial planning and analysis, treasury, investor relations, corporate investments and tax
- Global Financial Control (GFC) is responsible for managing and executing consolidated financial and legal entity reporting; interpreting and applying accounting policy and standards; overseeing financial controls and operational risk assessments; managing and maintaining financial data and systems; managing general ledger and sub‐ledger accounting; and supporting tax activities. In short, our focus in GFC is to get the numbers right and to work in support of the company’s goals, most importantly responsible growth.
- Global Legal Entity Controller (GLEC) is responsible for legal entity controllership activities for the Americas which includes the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Nobramex. Also responsible for Compensation and Benefits accounting, Corporate Treasury accounting, Planning and Control controller functions and Legal Entity management activities and providing controller support to Global Banking, Equity Investments and Consumer/GWIM products
Responsibilities:
- Managing month-end and quarter-end close
- Reviewing and approve journal entries
- Analyzing P&L and Balance Sheet and addressing anomalies
- Ensures the ledger is accurate
- Adheres to accounting standards, allocation guidelines
- Maintains and updates guidelines for Planning and Control
- Comprehends business activities and makes recommendations on the applicability of transactions
- Analyze Planning & Control and Other Segment results, internal reporting and commentaries
- Prepare internal reporting and submissions for regulatory reporting
- Maintain strong internal controls and escalate issues timely
- Optimize new technology to improve processes and automate
- Partners and Support to key business partners and stake holders – Corporate Planning and Control, Global HR, Global Tax, Corporate Controller, Global Regulatory Reporting and other Enterprise control functions
- Supervising offshore team and helping to provide guidance and training for teammates
- Ensuring financial commentary is appropriate for given audience
- Drive horizontal projects and initiatives
- Maintain and enhance data quality controls, as required
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of financial planning & analysis, financial reporting experience within financial services firms
- CPA or Equivalent
- Advanced Excel skills
- Practical knowledge of SAP/Oracle/ EPM
- Effectively manage multiple responsibilities/competing priorities
- Work well both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communications, presentations, and analytical skills
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
