Job Description

Responsibilities: 

  • The SVP & General Counsel will be tasked with the following duties, responsibilities, and assignments:

  • Serve as a senior legal advisor to the CEO/President, executive team, and other operational leaders on a broad range of commercial, employment, and compliance matters.
  • Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and management of a wide variety of agreements, including but not limited to:
    • Group sales and vendor contracts
    • Construction and development agreements
    • Leases, licenses, and hotel management agreements
    • Master services agreements, settlements, and workouts
  • Oversee all employment and labor law matters, including policy development, wage and hour compliance, employee relations, and benefits issues.

  • Direct the resolution of disputes, litigation, collections, and other legal claims.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, policies, and compliance programs, including privacy and data protection initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with outside counsel, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the legal team to ensure operational excellence and high morale.
  • Manage the legal department budget, review legal invoices, and approve for payment.
  • Review and approve company communications to ensure legal and reputational integrity.
  • Collaborate as part of the executive leadership team to shape and execute a comprehensive strategic vision that aligns with Atrium’s priorities and financial objectives.
  • Any and all other work as required to complete the primary purpose of the position.

Required Prior Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant legal experience, including complex commercial transactions, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Exceptional contract drafting, negotiating, and problem-solving skills with a high level of business savvy.
  • Proven record of managing multiple priorities, building relationships across diverse teams, and developing a team that delivers solutions in a high-energy environment.
  • Deep collaboration skills with executive teams and external partners; able to achieve positive outcomes that enhance relationships and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to advise at the highest levels of the organization.

Preferred Prior Experience:

  • Experience in the hospitality industry.

Education Required:

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school with outstanding academic credentials
