Roles and Responsibilities:
Manage and conduct privileged investigations, including interviews, review and analysis of documents and data, presentation preparation, and reporting to various stakeholders including senior leadership.
Consult with and advise business leaders and legal and compliance colleagues on compliance with laws and regulations designed to prevent fraud and abuse (e.g. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, U.S. Federal Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, Sunshine Act, etc., and their international counterparts) and GE HealthCare policies.
Brief and develop investigative plans and strategy with Global Chief Litigation Counsel and team members.
Coordinate investigation resources and support with international colleagues in the GE HealthCare Global Law & Policy Team.
Proactively review GE HealthCare's compliance with fraud and abuse laws and regulations.
Provide cross-functional support to the compliance function to (1) identify emerging issues and trends; (2) assess risk; (3) define policy and process improvements; and (4) support training initiatives.
Drive efficiencies and cost reduction in investigative matter management, including budgeting for external counsel and forensic/discovery-related needs.
Lead others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization. Evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Use multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
Required Qualifications:
Juris Doctor with 7+ years of practice.
Ability to work at GE HealthCare’s Chicago headquarters with a minimum in-office requirement of 3 days per week.
Significant experience with government investigations, including but not limited to investigations conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities & Exchange Commission, and/or foreign equivalents.
Significant healthcare-related law experience at a large law firm, corporate legal department, and/or government agency.
Accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others.
Excellent oral and written communication skills (a writing sample may be requested).
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work well independently and in a team setting.
Ability to direct and manage relationships and budgets with outside counsel and vendors.
Prioritization skills and ability to drive projects to conclusion.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a global environment, including participating in (often international) calls outside normal business hours.
Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
Desired Characteristics:
Prior experience in conducting and managing highly sensitive internal corporate investigations.
Prior prosecutorial experience.
Substantive experience with healthcare fraud and abuse laws (either domestic or international).
Experience operationalizing policies, helping enforce compliance and driving culture change.
