The Counsel position operates within broad guidelines established by the Vice President & General Counsel and is responsible for providing legal expertise and assistance to the company. This is an entry-level in-house position in the legal department for a company providing varied and general risk management consulting services in government, cyber, process safety, marine, energy and management system certification areas. The Company has various subsidiaries/branches both within the US and overseas.
What You Will Do:
- Provide counsel and advice on a variety of legal matters, draft and negotiate a broad range of agreements, conducts contract reviews on various corporate matters including government contracts, software licensing agreements.
- Work with outside legal counsel on various legal matters.
- Anticipate and identify legal issues and proactively develop effective and practical legal strategies and solutions.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- J.D. or LLM required.
- Bar membership in good standing.
- Typically requires 2-5 years’ related experience law firm or in-house
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate detailed, time sensitive legal issues.
- Ability to work with Operations, Financial Services and Human Resources Department at various levels of the organization and able to provide advice and discuss complicated issues clearly.
- Organizational skills and ability to balance various projects under pressure, flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters with the ability to prioritize.
- Report to the General Counsel.
It Would Be Nice If You Have:
- Spanish and Portuguese language skills in addition to English.
- Prior experience in data privacy and cyber security.
Reporting Relationships:
Position reports to a Manager, Director, or Executive level position. This position does not have direct reports
