Position Summary

Summary

 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Paralegal to support our legal team part time. You will work closely with our attorneys handling high volumes of franchisor related transactional work, compliance matters, and otherwise assisting in other departmental matters. Candidates must have extensive experience with drafting legal documents and managing paperwork. You also need to have excellent research skills, be able to multi-task several assignments under tight deadlines and be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Westlaw.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, organizing, and maintaining various contractual documents
  • Drafting and reviewing various legal communications
  • Conducting research and creating reports and documents for lawyers based on case specifications and requests
  • Organizing and managing documents, including the creation of spreadsheets and retrieval systems
  • Compiling information and preparing statistical charts, graphs and other summaries to detail findings
  • Coordinating the collection, review and production of documents and responding to discovery requests and subpoenas
  • Developing and following an indexing system that can be used as an active archive for all ongoing and completed contracts and cases
  • Researching case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources
  • Monitoring changes to laws, guidelines, or regulations; submitting reports on pertinent changes in legislation
  • Utilizing existing files and a variety of other legal research resources to develop information for pending matters/questions
  • Conducting background screens on franchising candidates
  • Obtaining signatures on and managing executable contracts

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate degree in paralegal studies required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • National certification, such as those offered by NALA or AACP, is a plus
  • 2-3 years of significant and substantive litigation experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a law firm or in-house setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Westlaw
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Experience drafting, cite-checking, and correcting legal correspondence
