The State Managing Attorney of Texas will be responsible for using his or her knowledge and skills to advocate for the company in legal collections matters, developing and enhancing the company's processes, and helping to maintain the company's ethical and compliance standards. This position is also responsible for managing the performance and duties of other team members (both other attorneys and support staff) and is responsible for ensuring that operations in locations under the Managing Attorney's responsibility are consistent with company policy and applicable law. The position reports to Director of Internal Legal.
Required:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Barred in the State of Texas and in good standing; if not yet barred in Texas, ability to waive into the state from another within the next 7 months is a must.
- 7+ years’ experience as a front-line collections attorneys and successfully managing debt collection cases.
- Strong knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework affecting the debt buying and debt collection industries including: FDCPA, FCRA, GLBA and related state statutes.
Strong critical thinking and strategic skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and work in a rapidly changing environment.
Preferred:
- Barred in another state in conjunction with Texas State Bar.
- Ability to analyze and interpret performance data in Excel.
