Position Title: Lecturer (Forensic Investigations/Criminal Justice and Legal Studies)

Position Summary: Washburn University School of Applied Studies (SAS) invites applications for the position of Forensic Investigations Lecturer in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies to begin August 1, 2025. This is a 9-month, full-time faculty appointment. There is possible conversion to tenure track after three years if applicant meets qualifications for promotion to Assistant Professor.

The Criminal Justice and Legal Studies Department relies on faculty who have real world experience to help students gain the necessary theoretical, practical, and critical thinking skills to be successful in careers in law enforcement, corrections, security administration, forensic investigations, and the law.

Essential Functions:
• Teach 12 credit hours per semester (either in-person or online, according to departmental needs) or equivalent full workload as outlined in the faculty handbook.
• Provide academic advising to students, hold on-campus office hours at least 3 days per week, in accordance with department policies, attend meetings, and fulfill service expectations associated with non-tenure-track appointment by engaging in service activities in the department, school, university, and profession.
• Reports to the Department Chair.
• Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field.
• Occupational experience in the field of crime scene investigations. Other forensic science field experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated dedication to developing teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds.
• Official educational transcripts will be required at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Post-secondary teaching experience in forensic science, criminal justice, and/or professional settings.
• Certificate from the International Association for Identification, or a similar forensic organization.
• Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or closely related field.
