We are an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our San Diego office is looking for a Legal Assistant to join our fast-paced team. If chosen as the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing administrative and legal support for the Business and Real Estate practice group, with efficient and timely production of all requested work product to ensure that clients are provided the highest level of service.

Compensation:

$30.00-40.00 p/hour

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Handle all aspects of unlawful detainer cases from inception to resolution
  • Preparation of notices; summons and complaints and other required Court forms
  • Manage electronic and physical court filings, ensuring compliance with court procedures and deadlines
  • Communicate with clients, courts, opposing parties, vendors, and sheriffs’ departments
  • Manage the high-volume unlawful detainer process from start to finish
  • Manage files of additional landlord tenant matters
  • Perform case intake, including reviewing leases and other forms, data entering new case information, and corresponding with clients for additional information
  • Sort and scan mail
  • Case management including extensive contact with clients, courts, and process servers
  • Calendaring and confirming appointments
  • Prepare and send case status updates to clients
  • Prepare and finalize pre-bills
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, calendaring, and closing files
  • Additional high-volume administrative support as needed by attorneys and/or the department

 

Qualifications:

 

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

 

  • 2+ years knowledge in unlawful detainer and/or landlord tenant law
  • Knowledge of local rules and deadlines
  • E-filing experience with local and State courts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience with case or practice management system (ProLaw or other similar system)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with inflexible deadlines and high-volume workload
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service externally and internally
  • Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm

 

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • General litigation experience
  • ABA-approved paralegal certificate
  • ProLaw experience
  • Knowledge of California and Federal Rules of Court
  • Experience with a legal document management system

 

Schedule:

 

Position is full-time at 40 hours/week. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday.

 

New hire employees will complete the majority of their onboarding and training in-office as deemed necessary for the position by the firm before transitioning to a possible hybrid schedule under this policy, subject to approval by their supervisor.
