The Professional Development Coordinator supports the Manager of Professional Development in the day-to-day operations of attorney professional development, including facilitating the annual review process, soliciting ongoing performance feedback, formal and informal mentoring programs, and developmental benchmarks. The Professional Development Coordinator will work closely with the Legal Talent Department and other affiliated professionals to implement programs and initiatives that foster a collaborative work environment and drive attorney development, engagement, and satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in all phases of the annual review process including self-evaluations, collecting feedback, working with partners to prepare performance summaries, preparing developmental messaging, and following up on development plans.

  • Compile and distribute review messaging packets to partners and associates insuring correctness and confidentiality.

  • Facilitate annual review meetings and the collection of conference memos.

  • Coordinate recurring meetings with Practice Group Leadership and Practice Directors on an ongoing basis to monitor associate performance to identify candidates for advancement and address performance or utilization issues.

  • Facilitate the Firm’s Associate Development Committee and Counsel and Career Development Committee including scheduling meetings, drafting agendas, and circulating meeting materials.

  • Coordinate firmwide and informal mentoring programs, including training programs and other resources for mentors and mentees.

  • Work with data analytics team members to compile and analyze confidential reports relating to associates and other timekeepers.

  • Respond to inquiries regarding attorney performance and utilization.

  • Maintain key department documents including policies, rosters, intranet pages, presentations, and reports.

  • Engage in research on market data and other various subjects and routinely prepare reports in various formats (e.g., Word, PPT, Excel) to document results.

  • Collaborate with other firm administrative departments, including practice management, IT, recruiting, marketing, and human resources.

  • Collaborate with Recruiting, DEI, and HR on initiatives that foster a diverse and inclusive culture and promote overall engagement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in maintaining confidential information.

  • Creative, energetic and enthusiastic.

  • Detail oriented with strong technical capabilities in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Willingness to learn and become familiar with new tools and technologies.

  • Ability to juggle a variety of projects for the team.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to collaboration.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree; a combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting program execution in a professional environment.
