Job Description

Dykema Gossett PLLC, a leading national law firm, is looking for a dedicated Compensation/HRIS Analyst to join our Human Resources team. The Compensation/HRIS Analyst will be responsible for administration of employee compensation programs and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). This role will also support our HR team with firm-wide benefits administration, employee data management, and other HR processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HR systems, experience with administering compensation processes, and excellent analytical and customer service skills. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for system improvements and implementing best practices. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research job requirements and evaluate market-based compensation survey data to ensure the firm is competitive in the areas of salaries and employee benefits.
  • Use information technology skills to manage human resources data and ensure accuracy, integrity and reliability of HR systems.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for the firm’s HR systems, bridging the gap between the HR and IT departments; Collaborate with HR and IT teams to support system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary range; Prepare and maintain job classifications and grades.
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information; Use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends.
  • Support Director, HR Compensation and Benefits in managing annual compensation and bonus processes; Collaborate with HR team to review best practices, develop total rewards strategies and implement solutions.
  • Perform data entry in HR management system and keep employee information up to date. Ensure employee data changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction; determines employee benefit adjustments for each pay period and prepares report for Payroll. 
  • Process and reconcile insurance premium payments on a monthly basis, including all self-administered programs (Life, LTD, Voluntary Accident, IDI, Supplemental Disability and Long-term Care insurances), as well as all retirement plan invoices. 
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for HRIS-related issues; generate and analyze HR reports to support decision-making.
  • Train HR staff and end-users on HRIS functionalities and updates; Assist with implementing HRIS best practices and process improvements.
  • Assist with data migration and system integration projects; Maintain documentation for HRIS processes and procedures.
  • Support benefits team during Open Enrollment cycle with system set up, updates, reporting and file transmission.
  • Assist benefits team with ACA tracking process, reporting, and file submission to the IRS site.
  • Provide internal customer support related to employee benefits, troubleshooting issues and acting as a liaison with outside vendors.
  • Coordinate with vendors for system maintenance and support.
  • Manage user access and permissions within the HRIS system.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Stay updated on HR technology and Compensation trends and advancements.
  • Support employee self-service and manager self-service functionalities. Assist employees with family status changes and provide back up for leaves of absence.
  • Support other HR functions, such as leave management, retirement programs, wellness programs, and Employee Resource Groups, as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in HRIS and compensation administration, or similar role; prior experience in legal or professional services field and employee benefits is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of HR compensation processes and systems.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms is required. Experience with UKG, Cognos Reporting, and viDesktop is a plus.
  • Proficiency in database management and SQL queries is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; positive attitude and customer service-oriented.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Experience with data analysis, data security, and reporting tools.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to train and support end-users.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and solving issues.
  • Experience with project management is a plus.
  • Certification in HR or related field is a plus.
