Job Description

Now is your opportunity to join our dynamic and versatile team in the State's largest and most significant law firm in California. The California Attorney General's Office is looking for a motivated individual who is interested in gaining knowledge, building experience and growing within the department by assisting the legal support and docketing unit with administrative office procedures.

Under the supervision of a Legal Support Supervisor, the Seasonal Clerk will scan and convert paper documents to electronic format in ProLaw; open/close electronic files in ProLaw and setup, update and close case files; box and label closed case files; request case files from the Department's offsite storage locations and prepare records transfer lists; create indexes of case files by reviewing exhibits and pleadings; maintain photo copier and maintenance reports; file miscellaneous documents; type labels and assemble/organize contents of case files; prepare travel expense claims; schedule appointments, meetings, and conference calls; and pickup/deliver mail and legal case files to appropriate section.

The Seasonal Clerk is the primary contact for video conferencing scheduling and set-up for the San Diego office; will provide coverage in reception and the mailroom, as needed; copy/scan documents; assist the Office Manager and Supervisor I with special projects and administrative tasks when needed; deliver supplies; coordinate building maintenance requests; and assist with other business services and clerical functions.

The Seasonal Clerk must have excellent work habits, such as good attendance, dependability, punctuality, accurateness of work product and flexibility. The Seasonal Clerk must be able to effectively and efficiently carry out assigned tasks independently or with moderate supervision, exercise good judgment and have strong communications skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and the public; demonstrate initiative and willingness to assume responsibility for identifying and resolving issues within span of authority; work well under pressure and meet short deadlines; and willingness to assume special projects. Efficiency in Adobe, Word and Outlook are desirable.

  • The Positions will be filled as a Temporary Appointment Authorization (TAU) intermittent appointment.
