Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: 

The role will support the company’s in-house Legal Department by assisting with legal research, regulatory and advertising compliance, and legal recordkeeping. Working closely with in-house attorneys, paralegals, and external counsel, the intern will contribute to intellectual property protection, marketing and direct selling compliance, and general corporate legal matters while gaining practical, hands-on experience in a regulated, consumer-facing business environment.

Legal Research & Regulatory Support

  • Conduct legal research related to trademark law, advertising and marketing claims, consumer protection, and direct selling regulations.
  • Research federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance applicable to direct selling, including FTC, state consumer protection, and unfair competition issues.
  • Summarize legal research and prepare memoranda or briefing materials for attorneys and paralegals.

Marketing, Advertising & Compliance Support

  • Assist with legal review of marketing materials, product claims, and distributor communications under attorney supervision.
  • Support compliance initiatives related to income claims, testimonials, and advertising practices common to direct selling businesses.
  • Help track and organize compliance documentation and regulatory guidance.

Recordkeeping & Legal Operations

  • Maintain and organize legal files, databases, and matter-tracking systems, with attention to confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Assist with document management, version control, and filing of legal correspondence and agreements.
  • Support internal reporting and tracking of legal matters and deadlines.

Cross-Functional & External Collaboration

  • Work closely with paralegals and in-house attorneys on ongoing legal matters.
  • Support coordination with external attorneys and service providers on intellectual property and regulatory matters.
  • Assist in gathering information from internal business teams, including marketing and compliance, for legal review and filings.

General Corporate Legal Support

  • Assist with contract review support, policy updates, and internal legal processes as assigned.
  • Draft routine legal correspondence, summaries, and internal guidance under supervision.
  • Provide support for special legal projects and initiatives as needed.

Professional Development & Ethics

  • Participate in legal team meetings, training sessions, and departmental initiatives.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality, ethical obligations, and company policies.
  • Gain practical exposure to in-house legal practice in a regulated, consumer-facing industry.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or in college/university for a bachelor’s degree)
  • Preferred: Post-Undergraduate; Pursuing a Law Degree

Tuesday through Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Salary
  • $16.90 - $18/hour
