Job Description
The Paralegal (Hybrid) will assist Trial Attorneys and Staff Counsel in the defense of lawsuits and the prosecution of collection and/or subrogation cases.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Under direction and supervision of a licensed attorney and supervisor, prepare pleadings and motions, discovery and conduct interrogatories: obtain records and review documents; interview and/or update clients; prepare materials for depositions, trial and examination under oath; conduct legal research.
- Assist attorneys with the investigation of the cases to determine the proper causes of action and applicable defenses available to ensure all cases are prepared properly.
- Maintain review date system to ensure that all appearances are covered, case status updates remain in compliance with internal reporting standards, and appropriately delegate tasks to support staff.
- Case manage property damage, subrogation, and collection matters.
- Perform clerical duties: schedule appointments; provide information to callers; take messages and return phone calls; compose and type routine correspondence; and read and route incoming mail, emails, and facsimiles.
- Maintain electronic files for all pending cases and ensure that copies of all case documents are committed in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree in business field
- 1 year law office experience
Qualifications/Skills:
- Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office, Internet research, and court filing systems such as NYSCEF, and other web-based applications.
- Detail oriented, organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong commitment to customer service with focus on positive interactions with coworkers, clients, claims partners, and outside vendors.
- Positive and professional attitude.
Payband 4 / 40 hours / Hybrid
Salary Range: $37,395 - $67,310
