Job Summary
The Paralegal (based out of our Rochester, NY office) will support attorneys in the Banking and Financial Services practice group with commercial real estate transactions by performing a variety of tasks including legal research, document preparation, case management, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of legal procedures and terminology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining and organizing deal files.
- Review corporate organizational documents.
- Analyze title documents, real estate documents and ALTA surveys.
- Review and summarize loan documents and construction related contracts.
- Draft and revise loan documents.
- Assist with closing commercial real estate transactions.
- interact with clients and maintain client confidentiality.
- Additional responsibilities specific to your assigned practice group may be required.
- Uphold the firm’s reputation as the premier source for sophisticated legal counsel by delivering superior outcomes, service, and value to every client and matter.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal or in a legal support role. Real Estate and/or Banking experience strongly preferred.
- Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Relevant Paralegal certification (i.e. ACEBS) is preferred.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships while work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of professional and support staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organizational workflow and processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to act with integrity and professionalism, and to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to take initiative, be flexible, and demonstrate resiliency.
