
Under minimal direction and in a fast-paced environment, the Paralegal Sr. provides daily support to the Legal Department attorneys specializing in providing advice and counsel related to mortgage, home equity, card, and insurance. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviewing certain internal and external correspondence including written responses to escalated complaints
- Supporting internal regulatory examination team and, Legal Department specifically, during periodic supervisory examinations by federal regulators
- Conducting basic factual and legal research including monitoring some state and federal consumer lending law developments and changes that impact the Bank
- Project tracking and coordination for state law research, M&A related reviews and other matters as assigned
- Proofreading legal documents and memoranda prior to distribution
- Administering and tracking litigation holds and monitoring on-going matter activity for threatened litigation matters
- Coordinating requests from internal parties for review of certain master services agreements, loan sale agreements, and/or non-disclosure agreements; work with internal and external counsel, as necessary, to address
- Providing routine calendaring assistance using Outlook (e.g., scheduling meetings, etc.)
- Supporting internal consumer lending counsel as needed, including matter management and document management
- Performing administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or in lieu of an Associate's degree, must have formal paralegal training
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a support role in a corporate environment or in a law firm
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior financial services experience preferred
- Strong MS Office (Outlook, Powerpoint, Word, Excel) experience and skills preferred
- Ability to work independently with limited direction and set work priorities that conform to established standards
- Familiarity with on-line legal research systems (Westlaw, Lexis etc.) together with basic research skills
- Familiarity with on-line court docketing websites
- Familiarity with Legal Tracker and NetDocs
- Exercise independent judgment towards matter preparation and initiate contact with clients, attorneys and other involved parties
- Team player that has ability to work with other team members and help influence and guide other Bank colleagues
- Excellent interpersonal skills and judgment (including ability to interface with all levels of colleagues)
- Proven analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to meet all deadlines as assigned and respond quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor and producing high-quality work product
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Paralegal certificate
