Position Overview:

As an Attorney at Mitchell Williams, you will be responsible for providing legal counsel and representation to clients, with primary emphasis on employment law and litigation. Your attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will directly impact our Firm’s continued success.

 

Job Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:  

  • Manage litigation, as first and second chair litigator on employment matters and other litigation as needed.
  • Provide legal counsel on employment law matters including but not limited to hiring, discipline, termination, wage and hour compliance, workplace policies, and accommodations.
  • Prepare memoranda, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents outlining research findings and legal arguments. Conduct comprehensive legal research using online databases, libraries, and other resources.
  • Represent clients in EEOC, DOL, and other state or federal agency investigations.
  • Draft and review a variety of legal documents, including but not limited to employment agreements, handbooks, severance agreements, and other workplace documents.
  • Conduct internal investigations and risk assessments for workplace issues for clients.
  • Ensure that all legal documents comply with applicable laws, regulations, and court rules and accurately reflect the client’s intentions and interests.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners to refine legal documents and strategies, incorporating feedback and revisions as necessary.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication and providing updates on case progress, developments, and strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships based on trust, professionalism, and effective representation.
  • Collaborate with team members within the Firm, including partners, associates, paralegals, and support team, to achieve collective goals and deliver high quality services.
  • Participate in Firm meetings, training sessions, and professional development to enhance legal knowledge, skills and expertise.
  • Serve on and be active in committees within the Firm as assigned.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and legal precedents relevant to applicable practice area, continuously expanding legal knowledge and keeping abreast of industry trends.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards, demonstrating commitment to our positive values.
  • Perform other duties as required. 

 

Qualification

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the bar in the state of practice required.
  • Strong legal research, writing and analytical skills, with the ability to formulate persuasive legal arguments and communicate complex legal concepts effectively.
  • Five to seven years practicing law, including employment law and litigation experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and other team members.
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all aspects of legal practice.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited required direction and guidance on simultaneous complex projects.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
