Job Description

Kinetico is looking for a Associate Counsel to join our commercial service team. 

The Associate Counsel will provide guidance and direction from a legal perspective to Kinetico management and employees. They will oversee legal, regulatory, and compliance activities of the company with direction from the General Counsel. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting General Counsel with the implementation of the legal function’s strategic goals. 
  2. Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations and managing legal risk across the business. 
  3. Providing accurate, timely and actionable advice to corporate functional leadership across a range of areas including sale and procurement agreements, service/consulting agreements, sales/marketing, supply chain initiatives, trade compliance, and general contract/employment law. 
  4. Assist in the design and development, implementation and promotion of legal, compliance and risk management best practices including governance structures, company policies and procedures.
  5. Coordinate, manage, and provide direction to external counsel and other third-party service providers as needed. 
  6. Designing and delivering legal training to the business as required.

What you will need to succeed:

Education & Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.  Active license to practice law.
  • 5-8+ years of legal experience, including previous in-house counsel experience
  • Demonstrated ability to business partner and provide strategic foresight for the business to ensure all legal aspects and routes are considered. 
  • Well experienced in establishing best-in-class legal practices with a strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to support the business and financial goals for the company.
  • Proven success in partnering across the organization and leveraging external networks to support legal needs; ability to operate and address a variety of legal and business issues independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to implement and foster a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, partner and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Good understanding of the organization and ability to turn that knowledge into actionable programs that impact the business’ global long-term and strategic goals.

  • Measurable effectiveness of Legal strategies.

  • Staying up to date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the business and its sector.

 

Compensation: 

  • Salary, Exempt. Compensation commensurate with experience. Bonus Eligible. 

Travel: 

  • Approximately 20% Domestic and International Travel
