Old Republic Title is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate Recovery Counsel to join our Corporate Legal team. In this in-house counsel role, you’ll play a key part in protecting our bottom line by recovering losses from title insurance and escrow claims across the country. This is a hybrid position based out of either our Westbury, NY or Wayne, PA location.
What You’ll Do:
As Associate Recovery Counsel, you’ll manage a portfolio of national recovery files and collaborate with internal teams, external Claims Attorneys, and outside counsel to mitigate and recover financial losses. Your responsibilities will include:
Managing low to moderate liability recovery files stemming from title insurance and escrow claims issued through our national agent network and direct operations.
Conducting investigations and legal research to evaluate and pursue viable recovery opportunities.
Coordinating with and overseeing outside Recovery Attorneys and litigation counsel.
Negotiating settlements with liable parties to minimize company losses.
Collaborating with internal Claims Attorneys and Claims Administrators to preserve recovery rights during active claims handling.
Responding to requests related to satisfactions, releases, and payoffs.
Ensuring all recovery actions are compliant with state and federal debt collection statutes.
Tracking and managing bookable assets associated with claim recovery.
Drafting formal correspondence to internal departments, external parties, and legal teams.
Attending occasional after-hours company events and meetings as required.
Some travel will be required.
What You Bring:
Juris Doctor (JD) and licensed to practice law in your state of residence, or eligible for in-house counsel registration.
0–3 years of experience, ideally as a Claims Attorney, Recovery Attorney, or Real Estate Attorney.
Familiarity with title insurance, escrow processes, and real estate transactions.
Strong attention to detail and an aptitude for handling high-volume document review.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital case management tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively across teams.
A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.

The estimated pay range stated represents the typical pay range for this position or similarly employed employees or employees performing substantially similar work. Factors which may be used to determine the actual pay rate may include, but are not limited to, education, training or experience; seniority; merit and work performance; quantity or quality of production; regional differences in compensation; differences in local minimum wages, or ability and effort.
Position's Pay Range:
$80,000 to $110,000 per year.Benefits may include:
