AIG is looking for an experienced Senior Paralegal for a position in the Labor & Employment Group of the Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Department. The position will report to Associate General Counsel, Labor & Employment Group and will be located at AIG’s offices in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The paralegal will provide strong administrative support and assistance to a team of attorneys with respect to a wide variety of legal projects and assignments across the Labor & Employment Group practice area.
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
• Work with various stakeholders within AIG to process and respond to employment-related subpoenas and other external legal requests for employee information;
• Draft, submit and maintain all manual tracking, quarterly reporting, employment practices liability insurance reporting and cost-savings measures;
• Manage the legal hold process for the Labor & Employment Group in compliance with corporate discovery procedures and guidelines;
• Perform general matter management for the Labor & Employment Group docket, including matter updating, document filing, ad hoc reporting and maintaining calendar with key deadlines;
• Act as first reviewer of all invoices and troubleshoot invoice-related issues;
• Assist with compiling information and retrieving documents for responses to administrative charges, arbitrations and litigations;
• Liaise with various stakeholders with respect to investigative, preservation and data collection requests;
• Perform general legal and factual research in support of Labor & Employment Group matters;
• Provide assistance to Employee Relations, as necessary; and
• Develop and maintain cross-functional relationships with Human Resources and other Legal Department teams to promote interdepartmental relationships and coordination.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
• Bachelor’s degree;
• 3+ years of experience as a Paralegal in either a law firm or in-house setting:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Must be collaborative, proactive, highly organized, detail-focused and deadline oriented, and be able to multi-task, prioritize, work independently and interact with senior leaders and a variety of stakeholders; and
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (with a focus on Excel and Microsoft Word) and have the ability to learn other computer applications.
