Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Level One Help Desk Technician to join our IT support team. This entry-level position is primarily responsible for the physical maintenance of desktop systems, including hardware setup, native software support, and hardware relocations. The ideal candidate will also assist with user account offboarding and provide basic support for Microsoft products and networking peripherals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical maintenance of desktop computers, including cleaning, diagnostics, and minor repairs.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot native software and operating systems on desktops and laptops.
  • Execute hardware moves, setups, and relocations in coordination with office or departmental changes.
  • Assist with offboarding procedures, including disabling user accounts, reclaiming hardware, and updating asset records.
  • Provide first-level support for Microsoft Office Suite, Windows OS, and other standard business applications.
  • Support and troubleshoot networking peripherals such as printers, scanners, docking stations, and VoIP phones.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of support activities, asset inventory, and service requests.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support or specialized teams as needed.
  • Follow IT policies, procedures, and security protocols to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Participate in routine audits, inventory checks, and IT projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification (e.g., CompTIA A+) preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience in a help desk or desktop support role is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, software installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS, Office 365, and Active Directory.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in a physically active environment.
  • Additional Assignments May Include:
  • Assisting with conference room technology setup and maintenance.
  • Supporting remote users with hardware troubleshooting and shipping logistics.
  • Participating in IT onboarding for new hires when needed.
  • Contributing to knowledge base documentation and process improvement initiatives.

Work Environment:

On-site, office-based environment with frequent movement between workstations.

Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for hardware moves or system updates.

Salary
  • $20 - $24/hour
