Our firm is seeking to hire an experienced and accomplished attorney to assume a senior associate role in our New York construction litigation practice with experience handling all aspects in the defense of personal injury actions arising under the New York Labor Law [namely, Sections §200, 240(1) and 241(6)]. Our clients in these matters include property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and municipalities. Responsibilities for the New York Labor Law Senior Associate will include but may not be limited to:
 
  • Litigating New York Labor Law cases from inception to resolution, including handling all aspects of pleadings, discovery, depositions, court appearances, motions, mediations, etc.
  • Conduct thorough research on applicable laws, regulations, and case precedents to develop effective legal strategies.
  • Collaborate with claims representatives and insured clients to share legal strategies and insights, providing guidance and support throughout the litigation process. Develop and present clear, concise, and actionable legal opinions and strategies.
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, and other court filings with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Mentoring junior attorneys and collaborating with partners on strategy for complex construction labor law cases.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
  1. Must be currently barred in New York.
  2. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school is required.
  3. Four to six years of experience litigating New York labor law actions.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience conducting training sessions to enhance understanding of legal processes and procedures within legal, claims, or other relevant departments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage caseloads and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with billable hour requirements and proficiency in accurately recording and documenting time worked in compliance with firm and carrier policies.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating with claims representatives and key stakeholders to support case resolution.
  • Ability to apply inclusive legal strategies that consider diverse perspectives and community needs.
  • Ability to develop and communicate clear, concise, and actionable legal opinions and strategies.
  • Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and court filings with detail and accuracy.
