Job Summary:
This role supports the labor and employment matters within Adventist Health. The successful candidate will provide advice and counsel on the full spectrum of HR matters for the healthcare system, primarily focusing on responding to demand letters and agency responses, and attending agency hearings. Other duties may include advice and counsel on hiring practices, workplace policies, wage and hour compliance, employee classification, accommodations and leaves, performance management, terminations, and reductions in force. The role advises on adherence to federal, state, and local employment statutes governing discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and workplace safety, while supporting internal investigations and dispute resolution. Responsibilities may also include drafting and reviewing policies and procedures, as well as partnering with HR and business leaders to assess risk, ensure compliance, and implement practical, legally sound workforce solutions.

Essential Functions:
- Prepares, reviews and revises contracts and other legal documents. Assists with the development of system policies and procedures. Assists with the supervision and education of in-house legal counsel and staff. Prepares, reviews and revises of physician and non-physician contracts and other legal documents with a primary focus on physician contracts and compliance.
- Assists in coordinating and managing outside counsel. Provides legal support for the organization's corporate compliance, privacy and security officers.
- Structures and negotiates business transactions, performs due diligence, counsels clients, performs legal research and supervises closings. Drafts and revises a variety of legal documents including contracts, resolutions, legal opinions and escrow agreements.
- Works with senior hospital administration and senior corporate management on legal matters.
- Reviews, checks and/or directs the work of department staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
