Job Description

Labor and Employment Defense Attorney


A leading Amlaw 100 law firm with over 900 attorneys nationwide seeks to hire Senior Counsel for either their Los Angeles or San Francisco Labor & Employment practice. L&E Counsel will have around nine (9) to twelve (12) years of litigation on behalf of corporations, companies and employers in labor disputes and negotiations and claims made against employers.


The role offers up to a maximum of about $300,000 in salary, although it is It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for any position.

(Laterals' salaries are commensurate with experience).

Skills:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required with a strong academic record highly desired.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of California and in good standing.
  • Nine (9) to twelve (12) years practicing California labor and employment law.
  • Proven experience with the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), a law unique to California thus emphasizing the need for California employment law expertise.
  • Experience in defending against employers' claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, reasonable accommodation or mass tort/class actions.
  • Ability to work cases from start to finish, independently with strong research and writing skills.  
  • Experience drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery.
  • Experience drafting and arguing motions including dispositive and discovery motions.
  • Strong investigative aptitude in deposition with plaintiffs and third-party or company witnesses.  
  • Litigation and acute knowledge of Federal laws and regulations.
  • Any size of portable business is ideal while the understanding and desire to build one is a part of the firm's culture
