Job Description

In-House Counsel will play an integral role in Clark Pacific’s legal department and will assist in addressing legal issues and providing legal support for all issues impacting the day-to-day operations of Clark Pacific. In-House Counsel will work closely with and report to the General Counsel.

 

Overview of the position:
In-House Counsel will play an integral role in Clark Pacific’s legal department and will assist in addressing legal issues and providing legal support for all issues impacting the day-to-day operations of Clark Pacific. In-House Counsel will work closely with and report to the General Counsel.

  • Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects and proprietary information.
  • Provide support in several areas of the law that directly impact Clark Pacific operations, including but not limited to general construction law, prevailing wage and compliance, employment and labor law, contract law, worker’s compensation, insurance, procurement and subcontracting, subcontractor claims, bond claims, delay claims and subcontractor defaults.
  • Conduct legal research on a variety of topics that relate to the business of Clark Pacific in California as well as other states. Draft memoranda, correspondence, and reports summarizing research findings and opinions regarding liability, risk transfer, and exposure.
  • Compile and review document responses and respond to third-party subpoenas and requests.
  • Assist in negotiating and finalizing Project Labor Agreements and ensuring compliance with existing labor agreements.
  • Assist in communication with national, state and local regulatory agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Occupational Health and Safety Administration, and the National Labor Relations Board.

Experience and Education:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school is required.
  • A license to practice law in California is required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience as an attorney is required.
  • Familiarity with construction law and construction functions is preferred.
  • Experience working with engineering, procurement, and construction agreements is a plus.
