Messner Reeves LLP, a national law firm, is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team in Orange County.
Position Overview:
This position requires a high degree of interaction with firm partners, associates and staff, as well as clients. As such, candidates should have good judgment and impeccable professionalism. Must be located in California and 5+ years of Litigation experience!
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate heavy scheduling and calendaring for attorney meetings, court deadlines, and depositions
- Heavy client contact, contact with witnesses and opposing counsel to obtain information pertinent to the case matter
- Document production and organization a must. Organize records, documents, correspondence, and files into a manageable format
- Provide support by drafting correspondence, memoranda and other legal documents
- Prepare files and/or binders for hearings, depositions, meetings and trial
- Assist with client engagement and retention, including preparation of engagement letter, conflict check, conflict waivers, and submitting information to open matters
- Ability work independently and with minimal supervision
- Team player with excellent listening, verbal and communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Must demonstrate a strong worth ethic and consistent schedule
Requirements:
- Experience handling multiple attorneys with full caseloads
- Experience with Defense cases
- Being well versed in both federal and state court procedure and filing requirements, including e-filing in federal court
- Fundamental knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures
- Pre-trial preparation and trial assistance experience required
- Organized, reliable, and attentive to detail
- Located in California
- 5+ years of Litigation experience
